Galena Lions Club October 2011

Club Newsletter Vol. 7 No. 4

Happy Birthday to Charlie Case and Doug Walters.

Our first October dinner meeting was Wednesday, October 5 at the Kitty Knight House. Our speaker was Gregg Bird, deputy chief of Emergency Management in Chestertown. Those who had birthdays in September and did not yet bring in a gift are urged to bring in a birthday gift on October 5 to the auctioned off by the Tail Twister.

Next Board Meeting is Wednesday October 12, 7pm, at King Lion Don Hooker's home at 13876 Swantown Creek Road in Shorewood. All members are always invited to attend. If you miss a club meeting, you can always attend a board meeting to make it up.

Dues are Due

If you have not paid your dues, please bring them in to Lion Nancy. Dues for 2011-2012 will be $60 per member. If you wish, you may pay $30 now and another $30 at our meeting on January 4, 2012.

Turner's Auction

Saturday, October 1- The Christians and the Lions once again prepared and served hot dogs, hamburgers and hot dogs and sold sodas. There was a smaller crowd than at the last auction, but we only ran out of French fries and not everything else. Thanks to all the Lions who were able to take time out to cook or clean or both!

As a result of Hurricane Irene, there was considerable flooding in the Millington area. The Millington Lions Club set up a special fund, and the club approved a contribution of $500.
